Icons can convey many things, a mood or a personality, or even just a bit of fun and i enjoy the challenge of creating one that is just what a person is looking for, adding that bit of class and individuality to each one!
i believe design as a whole is my strong suit. Each blank has a personality and it is up to me to bring the blank to life. The choice of font style and background play a very important part in the design of a blank. The right font will make the finished icon stand out; however the wrong background can detract so it’s important to choose both to complement the other to ensure the perfect look or feel to the finished icon.
Every once in a while, i’ll get a request for a design and the blank itself almost shouts at me. It holds every component one looks for in the perfect blank, but the requester wants 50 words put on it. (ok, not 50 but ya get what i mean!!)~l~ All it needs is Ttheir name or perhaps a single word, so i try to share with others how simplicity is sometimes best.
Static icons are becoming a favorite, though i love experimenting with animation, sparklies, frames and backgrounds. i also enjoy painting -- taking a black and white or grayscale picture and adding a splash of color.
Because i do enjoy the design aspect so much, i don't mind at all if a finished icon is returned with some changes requested, until the icon is just as one envisions it. i enjoy that challenge. If possible, i usually try to send at least 3 or 4 different designs of the same blank to give the person requesting a choice.
